Synopsis

“Over the nearly 40 years that I’ve been living in art, the colour scheme I’ve adopted has evolved from mixed colours to the recent pure white. I can’t explain what it is or why it is. One thing I know for sure is that my art life still goes on, and I will keep on painting. Instead of trying to change the world, I will just paint in a natural way and let the works speak for themselves. That’s what I have been sticking to. The colour white is enriched in time and time dissolves in white. How beautiful it is. I have been thinking about the concept of “extreme”.What do you think?” -- Wong Sauching

"I like black so arrogantly because it allows dreams to roam free. I can mix one tube of blue or red paint into a thousand tubes of black ones because the depth of black is just like a hole that allows thoughts to squeeze in and plainly expose themselves. It is blind and fears nothing. It presents to people what they are frightened of as well as what they love. So I will prepare myself for getting into trouble, and I am willing to set my mind at ease in the dark chaotic world before I get down to work on postmodernist art. I wish to practice the idea of the German philosopher Nietzsche that only through the beautiful and appealing veil of art, can humans endure the existing trauma. " -- Lin Yonglin
