Synopsis
Grand master Ted Lo and Hong Kong’s newest jazz star, Nate Wong, present an encore of their sold-out show at the Fringe Club last April. Their acoustic jazz trio captivated the audience with their telepathic playing as they ripped through up-tempo Brazilian Sambas, old-school bebop and beautiful ballads.
Ted Lo is a staple on both the Hong Kong and international jazz scenes, and has performed with some of jazz music’s all-time greats such as Ron Carter, Joe Lovano and Tania Maria. In addition, he has written songs for some of Hong Kong’s biggest pop stars, including Eason Chan, Hacken Lee and Justin Lo.
Nate Wong, a recent immigrant from the US, has already worked with some of Hong Kong’s most important musicians and groups, including Eugene Pao, Jezrael Lucero, Pete Moore and the Island Express Big Band. He studied at the Berklee College of Music – his teachers included jazz luminaries Ralph Peterson, Terri Lyne Carrington and Greg Osby.
In this concert, the two will perform original compositions, classic jazz tunes and Latin music. Joining them will be Hong Kong’s first-call jazz bassist, Scott Dodd.
