WINTER CHANTS
Continuing her career-spanning contemplation of home and reunion, Tsang Tsui shan (Flowing Stories,
2014) once again turns the camera on her home village of Ho Chung. This time, she documents her village's Tai Ping Ching Chiu Festival, a once-in-a-decade event that brings villagers back from all
over the world to the village. But when the world is hit by a global pandemic, what will happen to this
long-awaited reunion? Made amidst great change in Hong Kong and her own life, Tsang's latest love
letter to her home is a melancholic and wistful affair.

Ah Cheung: WINGS OF HOPE
Ah Cheung suffered from birth asphyxia, which caused him to be paralysed for life. He spent his childhood in an apartment in a public housing estate with no elevators. For the first 11 years of his life, he did not leave his home. When he felt lonely, he chatted with the mice who came for his food.

He said that later in his life was full of “adventures”. He only started primary school aged 12. He took secondary school public exams in his late 20s, using one hand and his lips to hold the pen and answer the questions. He became the first wheelchair-bound insurance agent in Hong Kong. He learnt perseverance from his mother, who carried him on her back to school and the examination hall.

Ah Cheung was determined to be independent and strived to discover the true meaning of freedom on his own terms. He passed away in March 2022, leaving an unfinished dream: building a library to be managed by people with different disabilities.

The film is the directorial debut of So Ka Ue, with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Ruby Yang serving as the creative and executive producer.

OBEDIENCE
Nestled in the centre of Hong Kong, the neighbourhood of Hung Hom is a study in contradictions. While the dead are transported to the nearby funeral homes, the living crowd its bustling streets. The affluent live in luxury residences towering over dilapidated buildings marked for demolition, while the poor sift through construction waste and trash for a meagre living wage. Capturing the ebb and flow of this urban district over a five-year period, Wong Siu-pong's latest observational documentary provokes thoughtful discussion at a time when waste disposal has become a hot-button issue. 'Obedience' questions what is truly considered waste in this city.

EVERYPHONE EVERYWHERE
We're in Hong Kong in 2022. 25 years after the handover and 25 years after the graduation of three classmates who decide to organise a reunion. In bittersweet tones, director Amos Why captures the unusual day of the three and their (and our) relationship with their phones: one of them has forgotten theirs, another one's has been hacked, while the third's keeps receiving strange messages. And the fourth protagonist is Hong Kong itself.

MONTAGES OF A MODERN MOTHERHOOD
Suk-jing recently welcomes a baby daughter into her ordinary life, which, to her surprise, will never be the same again. She is soon stressed-out taking care of the baby 24/7, while her husband never proactively takes part in it. Conflicts with in-laws, postpartum bodily changes, affected work performance are straws piling up on her back... After long nights of nursing in loneliness, where will the break of day lead her?

VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH
After being raped, Pastor Leung's daughter committed suicide. Years later, when the rapist got released from prison, he joined Leung's church.
What will the pastor do? Will he forgive? Or seek revenge?

PAPA
Café owner Nin's mundane but contented life is shattered forever when his fifteen-year-old son Ming slashes his mother and younger sister to death one evening. Diagnosed with acute schizophrenia, Ming is remanded to a psychiatric prison indefinitely until full recovery. Aside from visiting his son twice a month, Nin continues to lead a pedestrian existence, while memories of his wife, daughter, and son keep flooding into his head. As time passes, Nin has given up on knowing the reason behind the misfortune. He only wishes that one fine day, Ming, his sole remaining family but also the murderer of his family, will come home again.
