FAKE, a full-length play by Floy Quintos – one of Metro Manila’s most celebrated contemporary playwrights – intertwines Filipinos’ religious faith with their struggle for national identity. We follow Miguel, a cynic set on debunking an alleged spiritual phenomenon in the mountains of Luzon led by Sister Emily – who claims to heal the sick via apparitions of the Virgin Mary. While on this journey, Miguel confronts a ghost from his past: the memory of his mentor, Jose Marco – Philippine history’s greatest con man.
