Synopsis
Step into the world of "What If," a solo exhibition by Liu Lee that explores the uncertainties of life. This exhibition is the result of a series of serendipitous encounters - If Liu had not gone to the Fringe Club in June, he would not have the Fringe’s manager. And if Liu had not met the Fringe’s manager, he would not have known about the vacancy at the Anita Chan Lai-ling Gallery, where this exhibition is now taking place.
The exhibition draws inspiration from the phrase "What If," which leads to endless possibilities and uncertainties, much like the uncertainties we face in our future. Liu Lee expertly captures this spirit of the unknown in his paintings, such as in "Grievance," where a girl with tears in her eyes raises the question: what if he wiped them away? Or in "Summer Clouds," where Liu Lee depicts a type of life that is as unpredictable as the clouds in the sky. And what if everyone in the painting had a unique face? Would we be more curious about what exactly "What If" meant?
Life is full of uncertainties that can take us by surprise, but when we discover some certainties amid these uncertainties, we find ourselves in ecstasy and excitement, as if appreciating a great work of art. This solo exhibition is a celebration of uncertainty and the limitless possibilities that lie within it. It will take you on a journey through the Liu's mind, where every painting is a manifestation of his imagination.
