Synopsis
Poverty is a serious problem in Hong Kong. Photography is a powerful means of communication and visual expression, and a form of fine art. PHOTO CONTEST HK is a non-profit project that aims to spark public interest and awareness in socially-relevant subjects. The organizers also hope it will become a significant photography prize.

The Hong Kong International Photo Festival, a biennial spectacular within the Hong Kong photography field, runs this year from October to December, with six large-scale exhibitions. Photography lovers and ordinary citizens alike are invited to look back on the development of photography in Hong Kong, and to explore the latest global trends in the field. An array of activities will also target young photographers and the public, to encourage photo taking in the city. The Festival aims to showcase excellent local photographers and to become the leading exchange platform for the photographic culture in Asia.
