Synopsis
Registration & Enquiries: side.exhibition2021@gmail.com
“Imperfection, impermanence, incompleteness” are the aesthetics of the traditional Japanese ceramic pinching technique called “Kurinuki”, while “Neriage” is a method of creating various irregular yet natural patterns using clays of two or more colours by wheel-throwing or clay-pinching techniques.
In this workshop you’ll make a plant pot, using the Neriage and Kurinuki techniques. First you’ll use Neriage to mix and knead black and white clays, forming zebra stripes and a variety of patterns. Then you’ll shape the clay using Kurinuki, emptying the interior to create a striped plant pot that will beautify your home or office. Appreciate incomplete forms and accidental traces.
