Synopsis
Artist Etta Chan, who was diagnosed in 2002 as being bipolar, believes art can be anything that gets people thinking. In her case, her artworks deal mainly with her personal experience.
All her works tell a story, so for her, the title of each work is especially important.
Etta’s painting style is simple, using expressive and curved lines inspired by Chinese calligraphy. Some of her paintings are rife with melancholy, and even those that appear to be as happier are also reserved and solitary, as if muttering to themselves.
