TxT Ensemble

TxT ensemble is a brand-new group led by jazz guitarist Tjoe and tap dancer Tansei.  Joining them are double bass player Jeff Lehmberg and trumpeter Farley Angel.

Tjoe and Taisei first collaborated in the winter of 2017, performing in the band NTBM, and since then they’ve developed and composed music tailored for tap dancing and jazz improvisation, and have also re-arranged jazz standards.  Their shows always feature live music, especially improvised jazz – because tapping is like talking musically.

Tjoe is a Hong Kong-born-and-bred musician.  This Musicians Institute alumnus is a favoured sideman in the pop-music scene, a talented jazz and blues guitarist, and a proficient arranger and composer.  Currently the official artist of Melancon, Tjoe is renowned for his creative approach, powerful soloing, spectacular improvisation skills and the splash of humour that he brings to the stage.
 

Tansei (tap dancer)
Tansei, from Tokyo, Japan, started learning tap dancing with some of the top dancers in New York in 2010.  He has performed at a numerous venues and events throughout Japan and overseas.

Tansei landed in Hong Kong in 2014, and since then he’s played in hundreds of jazz gigs.  He also leads a band, Tokyo Senretsu Sess!on, with jazz and flamenco-based musicians – they’ll release a CD this month.

• 40 seats plus standing spaces. Seats are first-come-first-served.
• Drink coupon will be distributed at the door.
