Synopsis
Are you tired of typical Cantopop music, and are you looking for a change? But is it possible to combine Chinese music and jazz music? And how can dance collaborate with jazz?
Presented by the Fringe Club as part of the new “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe” project – Phase II, Jazz+ is a series of cross-over performances between jazz and other genres that’s happening every month until May 2019.
For the Jazz+ show in November, the host band Ray Speaks Jazz is led by Ray Wang (guitar). Joining him onstage are Yiti Chapman (vocals), Sukie Sing (piano), Ben Lo (bass) and Jackie Chan (drums).
The concept of jazzified pop songs is definitely not new, but it’s rare to see pop songs incorporated into jazz music. For this show, Ray has re-arranged some golden pop hits (in English), woven seamlessly into some classic jazz originals, creating a refreshing and exciting combination of jazz and chart-topping songs.
*All songs re-arranged by Ray Wang
Ray Wang (arranger, guitar)
Producer, composer, arranger and jazz guitarist. Ray loves the guitar and different musical genres, especially jazz. He has been involved in many concerts and record productions.

Sukie Sing (piano)
