Artists Bios

Nick Cody

With his iconic ginger beard, Nick Cody is praised for his greatest talent of making his delivery look absolutely effortless. The title of his recent stand-up comedy, Loose Unit (2018), is basically a self-deprecating description of his personality: someone who loves a drink, a prank and a laugh. He has already headlined comedy clubs all over the globe, made his US late night television debut on CONAN, performed at the invite-only Montreal Just For Laughs Festival and played to packed houses around the world on his solo stand-up tours.

Media’s Quote:

“a supremely good stand-up” — Jay Richardson, The Scotsman (28 August, 2015)

“A deceptively laid-back delivery still packs a punch.” — Marissa Burgess, The List (4 August, 2017)

“This is champagne comedy at its apogee. Cody throws out reams of one-liners and zingers, while keeping a tight rein on the show’s pacing.” — Lynette Walker, The Herald Sun (12 April, 2018)

Dilruk Jayasinha

After moving to Australia on his own from Sri Lanka at the age of 19, Dilruk has no intention to further pursuit in the field of finance and accounting, and promptly went on for his first gig in September 2010 and hasn’t looked back since. Unlike other comedies that focus on simply making audience bursts into laughter, his recent performance, Bundle of Joy (2018), explores the most banal themes that are totally bittersweet. Dilruk relates to topics like death and pain, which may seem depressing, but his remarkable skills and narratives enables these mundane materials to stay upbeat and witty. More importantly, his insights expands audience’s perspectives.

Media’s Quote:

“Dilruk Jayasinha brings joy with dark undercurrents” — Craig Platt, The Age (11 April, 2018)

“Extremely endearing comedian who wears his heart on his sleeve” — Herald Sun

“one of the warmest and most endearing acts on the circuit” — In Batmania

Cal Wilson

Cal came across the Tasman in 2003 and has gone on to become one of the most popular comedians, a perennial favorite on television shows such as Have You Been Paying Attention?, Spicks and Specks. Her stand up shows are as engaging as they are hilarious, often bringing the audience’s stories to life alongside her own. She earned herself a seat in one of Australia’s most sought after writers rooms at the ABC for The Weekly with Charlie Pickering where she returned for its first two

seasons until she landed one of her dream jobs as an ensemble case member in Whose Line Is It Anyway? Australia alongside some of the country’s brightest improvisers.

Media’s Quote:

“She is an immensely likeable onstage presence who boasts a near faultless delivery of her material.” ── The Herald Sun (April, 2014)

“Wilson brings a hilarious, quick-paced, captivating hour filled with lots of laughters.” ── This is Radelaide (Feb, 2018)

Gillian Cosgriff

Gillian is a musical comedian living and working in Melbourne. She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Theatre and has spent the last eight years garnering accolades and rave reviews for her unique style of musical comedy. Her performance in the improvised web series “Written It Down” saw her win Best Actress at the LA Webfest Awards 2014. Her second solo show “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” won the Best Cabaret Award at Melbourne Fringe 2013 and a Green Room Award for Best Original Songs.

Media’s Quote:

“There’s not a single gag that doesn’t land, nor a hair out of place. Cosgriff is like a cabaret ninja...and man does she know her way around these musical nunchucks." ── The Herald Sun

“Warm, witty, and engaging...expect great things from Gillian Cosgriff.” ── The West Australian

Rahual Subramanian

Mumbai-bred Tamil rising star Rahul Subramanian started out with an MBA, before jumping ship and tackling open-mic comedy nights as a New Year’s resolution. His goofy and funny guy stage persona has won him favour with judges, taking out the Pajama Fest, Canvas Club and East India Comedy Virgin Pants open mic competitions. Much to his own surprise, he managed all this without bribing the judges.

Media’s Quote:

“Rahul Subramanian brings simple, stripped-down comedy to the Museum Theatre stage.” ── The Hindu

“Rahul Subramnian is one of the more recognizable stand-up comics in India.” ── Showsha.com
