Synopsis
La Pingo's Orquesta is a jazz/world music sextet, formed in 2012 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. At first they performed on the city’s streets and sidewalks, then on the circuit of the city’s cafes. Now, they’re a recognised festival act.
The group’s concept is a fusion of different genres, ranging from traditional Mexican music and classical music to Manouche jazz (also known as Gypsy jazz), Swing, Tango, Balkan music, Rock and Latin-American folklore. The band manages to capture all the influences of each of its members, defining itself beyond any style, or better yet, defining itself as a diversity of styles in one cohesive and colourful offering.
In 2014, La Pingo's Orquesta independently released its first, self-titled album, selling over 5,000 copies in two years. The band released its second album, Peregrino, in 2017.
Marco Gregoire (contrabass), Claudio Gardea (drums), Cristian Bautista (violin), Gerardo Castmu (guitar), Edgar Estrada (clarinet), José Guadalupe Lara (trumpet)
