Guitarist Eugene PAO is the best-known jazz musician in Hong Kong; in fact his name is synonymous with jazz in our city.  He first caught people’s attention in the mid-1980s, when he returned from studying in the US and started playing around town.

Eugene has performed with such jazz greats as Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Teramisu Hino, Freddie Hubbard, Bob Berg, Jackie McClean, Joe Pass, Ulf Wakenius, Ernie Watts, Martin Taylor, James Moody, Bill Bruford, Jeff Berlin, Stu Hamm, Bobby McFerrin, Russell Ferrante and Eric Marienthal.

As a composer, he had contributed to countless TV commercials, and his film soundtracks have been nominated for best original score at the HK Film Awards.  Recently, Esquire Magazine featured him on the cover of its 20^th-annverary issue as one of the 20 most influential men.  The PRS guitar company invited him to join their artist endorsement program and custom built a signature guitar especially for him.  He was also featured on the cover of a recent issue of re:spect magazine.

Eugene continues to travel the world, performing at jazz festivals, concert halls and jazz clubs, and taking part in recording projects.
