Soulful: An Exhibition By Savannah Kirsten Russell

Currently based in Hong Kong, Savannah is showcasing her new series titled "Soul Revival," which explores the themes of gut feelings and the importance of trusting one's intuition. This series invites viewers to reflect on their inner voices, fostering a deeper understanding of the self and the world around them. 

Artist Statement:

This series, "Soul Revival," emerged from a period of creative breakdown—a realisation that I had not created anything for myself in a long time. I found myself pushing old work that no longer sparked joy or working on different projects that felt disconnected from my true self. After months of reading, listening to podcasts, and grappling with my creative blockages, a single video that a friend sent me brought me to tears. It provided the structure I needed to embark on something new, now with the mindset of releasing the burden of expectation and consequences. 

All I had to do was trust my gut instincts and start to play. One step at a time, one colour or medium at a time, until there was nothing left to add and nothing left to communicate. Once it was complete, I experienced a profound sense of wholeness for the first time in a long time. I felt understood because I had finally been able to express what I felt inside. 

Through this series, I aim to encourage others to listen to their own instincts, as they are far more powerful than we often realise. We have all the answers we will ever need; we just need to listen.
