FREEUPJAM is a platform that aims to create opportunities for young musicians with big dreams. Through performance and composition, the young musicians in FREEUPJAM not only develop their musicality and technical skills, they also learn from the band and the working group about the importance of values such as perseverance, co-operation and discipline.
< Existentialism – Live > is a memorable milestone for these hardworking musicians. The band has composed a series of original pieces in Cantonese, all on the theme of “Existentialism”.
“Existentialism” is a philosophy that examines the meaning of our lives – it’s about breaking through the presumption of norms and the so-called “objective and absolute truth”, digging deep inside our hearts, and feeling with our own emotions and senses to search for and discover the value of our existence. The original compositions by FREEUPJAM express the urge for the meaning of life, the suffering caused by reality, the cruelty of the city and the emotions that are stirred within us.
This anti-mainstream approach in channelling the reflection of life through music is definitely different from the sea of pop culture that floods people with banal love tunes. So we hope you’ll enjoy a Friday night with these dreamer-musicians, and join them to dance to the melody of life.
