Fringe Club

Synopsis

Walking up Wyndham Street, you will come across a distinctive red-and-white-striped building.  This is Hong Kong Fringe Club.  It is housed in the South Block of Old Dairy Farm Depot, which was built in 1892, then expanded and finished rebuilding in 1913.  It was originally used for milk storage and distribution by Dairy Farm. The first retail store opened in 1904 and transformed into Hong Kong’s first supermarket in 1916.  From 1960s, Dairy Farm continued to thrive and expanded its business to other sectors. The depot was abandoned for a decade before Fringe Club started to occupy from 1984.

For the past 33 years, Fringe Club has revitalised the premises as an open platform and contemporary art space for exhibitions, performances, art and cultural exchange.  The Fringe Club also manages its café and bars to complement the enjoyment of the arts. Learn Play Lead Fringe Tour is the Jockey Club Cultural Heritage Leadership Project, and also a visiting historic building listed in the Heritage Fiesta 2016 of the Commissioner for Heritage’s Office Development Bureau.
