Synopsis

Ko Bin Lin (KOKO) was born in Hong Kong. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Coventry University, England, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her childhood was associated with the land. She is fascinated by the relationship between the land and people, and her creativity circles around Nature. Through her perceptions of life and her dialogue with Nature, she touches upon different mediums and embraces life, and in return feels the depth of life.

Recently, KOKO has focused on glass and sculpture. She believes in the importance of the creative process and selecting her media, often no less than the artwork itself. In her creative process, her partners often include glass, wood, torches and a variety of tools — she communicates with them as if they were her friends, which generates an intimate relationship.

“Life Is Art, Art Is Life” is her attitude not only towards life, but also towards her creative ideas. She set up KOKO Farm in 2013, and has chosen to live a natural lifestyle ever since. Inspired by the sounds and colours of the countryside and fields, she tries to incorporate Nature into her artworks, allowing viewers to experience the beauty of this world. Her wish is that through her work, the public will share the fun of her dialogue with Nature, savour its delicate transformation process and rhythms, and be inspired to adopt a new attitude towards life — living a slower life and enjoying its simple pleasures.

KOKO’s works have been exhibited at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, Cyberport, Chai Wan Youth Plaza, The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the National Museum in Taipei and Amsterdam Dokzaal.
