Synopsis

Cities are like people, they have different characters. The making of a city is informed by its histories and collective memories; natural and built environment; a sense of who they are and what they will become. Marked contrasts can be found between Penang, Malaysia and Hong Kong: pace of life, multicultural identity, and social structure. Where Hong Kong is pragmatic, self-critical and unmitigatedly commercial, we like to think that Penang is anything but.  Join us for a Creative Dialogues talk in collaboration with George Town Festival (Penang) to explore and assess the cultural vibrancy and creative strength of our respective cities- Hong Kong and Penang.
