Synopsis

Finale of “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe”:
Jazz Age II Party: This Side of Paradise

To celebrate the end of our year-long project “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe”, Fringe Club proudly presents the spotlight event of the year - “Jazz Age II Party: This Side of Paradise” on the International Jazz Day on 30 April. The party, featuring seven renowned local jazz bands showcasing irresistibly danceable tunes, starts at 7:30pm and will continue until late into the night.

The phrase “This Side of Paradise” comes from the novel of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald, one of the most famed American novelists of the Jazz Age (and he borrowed the phrase from a poem by Rupert Brooke).

The old Dairy Farm shop at the Fringe Club will be transformed into an ostentatious “Paradise” with flashy, bling-bling crystal decorations; the Underground Theatre will exude the classic ambience of a 1920s American jazz club, and The Jockey Club Studio Theatre will be turned into a jazzy and trendy chill-out space with special lighting.  Photographs of memorable moments during the “Jazz-Go-Central, Jazz-Go-Fringe” project will be exhibited in the Vault Café.

Party-goers are sure to enjoy dressing up; dancing to jazz standards, ranging from jazz standards to Swing, and from original songs to Canto-jazz; indulging in nostalgic 1920s-themed cocktails, and experiencing the extravagant and romantic golden age of jazz.
