The Engine Room - This Hong Kong-based collective of talented musicians and artistes presents an evening of indie pop, soul, rock and roll that will help you celebrate the true joy of live music in Hong Kong.

Natalie Hiong: Natalie is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Singapore.  Since giving up her banking job in 2010 to pursue a career in music, Natalie has been charming audiences with her lilting voice, personal lyrics and catchy melodies.

Natalie has released two EPs, Little Heart (2011) and Beautiful Mess (2013).  She won the Homesongs Contest 2014 with her Singapore song, Coming Home, while her song Unravelling won the Love Song category in the UK Songwriting Contest.  Natalie has performed in festivals worldwide, including the Spring Scream Festival (Taiwan), Music Matters Live (Singapore) and MEOW Con (USA).  She was the opening act for singer-songwriters Marie Digby, Lenka and Tiffany Alvord, and a featured artist of Starbucks Singapore.

Natalie’s love for music extends to her active involvement in musical theatre.  She was the lyricist for the multi-million-dollar magic spectacular Incanto at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore, and the lyricist and co-writer for the theme song for the Hollywood Dreams Parade at Universal Studios Singapore.  She also composes children's songs for lessons and musicals.

Weisan: The phrase “Never judge a book by its cover” perfectly describes the appeal of Weisan Au Yeung.  Her petite, youthful appearance in no way prepares you for the rich, dark tones and hypnotic melody lines that are inherent in her songs.

A native of Larne in Northern Ireland, though born of Chinese parents, Weisan is no stranger to diversity.  Her voice melds hints of Bjork-infused passion with the deep rolling soul of Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.  Once described by NME as “subterranean” while she was touring with her former band Braille Acoustics, Weisan has developed a wholly unique sound that is at home anywhere but difficult to immediately identify as belonging to any one particular genre.  It is this, coupled with her profound and poetic lyrical style, that sets Weisan apart from her peers and makes listening to her music a truly refreshing experience.

Weisan’s musical influences range from Annie Lennox, Dave Grohl, Bjork, Susanne Sundfor, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Mercury, Sara Bareilles and many more.  Her wide variety of musical tastes makes it hard for Weisan to pin her own music into one genre.  “If it sounds and feels good and right that's all that matters," she says.

Weisan Au Yeung (vocals, piano), Dave Simpson (vocals, drums), Dino Acconci (vocals, guitar), Chris Collins (vocals, guitar), Julio Acconci (vocals, bass).

Diamond 6: A new band, with former League of Gentleman bassist Gavin Ho comprising one third of the lineup.  A good, hearty rock- and-roll band inspired by the likes of Soundgarden and MotorHead.

Nils Gotland (vocals, guitar), Gavin Ho (vocals, bass), Matt (vocals, guitar)

All standing.
